Are They Just Your “Partner in Wine?”

mental health Jan 07, 2022

Codependency and substance abuse are two words often used in the same conversation. When two people are participating in toxic behavior together, it’s difficult for either of them to experience successful, long-term recovery.

Women often ask me how to tell a romantic partner they want to be sober.

My answer is usually pretty simple! If they love and support you, it shouldn’t be a problem.

Hi Friends!

You may or may not know that I host a Sober Vibes podcast

First, Chris opens up about how family dysfunction and his father's narcissism created wobbly circumstances for him growing up. We know that everyone has their own experiences and trauma in life. Unfortunately, that experience leads so many people to substance abuse

Both Chris and I both sought out AA as one of the first steps in our recovery. When you seek to overcome the...

Each person experiences different, unique feelings during recovery and will require different levels of support.

There will be times when you’ll need extra love and moments when you need space. The people around you will want to support you as much as possible, but you have a right to ask for space whenever you need it.

How to Quit Drinking When Your Partner Isn't Sober.

Deciding that you’re ready to give up alcohol is a brave choice! I’m willing to bet that you’re tired of hangovers and drunk arguments. If you’re not careful, alcohol can put a huuuuge strain on any relationship.

Make sure they understand your reasoning.

To get your partner on board with your choice, you’ll need to help them understand your reasoning. They likely already know your feelings toward alcohol, but having a genuine conversation will be key.

Now, let me be clear...
