If CBD is not already part of your lifestyle, you might be wondering why it’s so popular.

The global CBD market is expected to reach a valuation of 25.15 billion by 2032. Growing from classic oil products to beverages, gummies, capsules, skincare, and more, the category is constantly expanding.

Why consider CBD for alcohol recovery?

Like other forms of recovery, quitting drinking will have physical and mental impacts unique to each person. Cravings, different types of stress, and pain that’s no longer "numbed" by alcohol can all potentially benefit from CBD treatments!

Researchers are currently exploring CBD's potential to reduce cue-induced cravings and anxiety in drug-abstinent individuals. In other words, making early sobriety and handling cravings easier.

For me, and many in the Sober Vibes community, cannabidiol is a staple sober-life resource, as it's not psychoactive or intoxicating. Read more about why we like it ⤵

Four Relieving Benefits of CBD:

1. Mood

When you quit drinking, smoking cigarettes, or using any type of drug, mood swings are a common occurrence. They can feel confusing, embarrassing, and even scary at times. Dont’s stress - this is normal and not your fault. Mood swings could be from underlying mental health issues that need to be addressed, or simple chemical changes happening in your body.

For help with the emotional side of sobriety, I recommend maintaining therapy or coaching sessions. Talking through deep feelings that come up will help prevent disruptive mood swings.

You can also try using CBD to balance your mood!

Anxiety and stress reduction are the top reasons people are using CBD. Its naturally calming effects work to increase serotonin levels and bring your body back to equilibrium.

2. Sleep

We all know, getting enough sleep just makes life easier.

Did you know? Alcohol disrupts your sleep, creating fragmented sleep patterns. Even though many choose to self-medicate with alcohol for sleep, it actually makes things worse!

In early sobriety, high-quality Z’s can help keep emotions and cravings in check, keeping you safe. Anything you do to ease cravings and prevent a bad trigger reaction has the potential to be life-saving.

If you want to try a plant-based approach to improving sleep quality, CBD is the way to go.

Especially for those in recovery, taking sleep medications can feel intimidating or risky.

Because CBD comes in many forms, it's an easy addition to your nighttime routine.

Use an oil dropper, take capsules, or sip a tasty beverage - the choice is yours!

Pro tip: CBD bath products (like bath bombs or soaks) are amazing on self-care nights.

3. CBD Mocktails

Alcohol-free drinks have grown immensely in popularity in the last 5-10 years.

With people drinking less alcohol, functional beverages are the new thing!

This includes mushroom elixirs, vitamin and antioxidant-rich seltzers, CBD drinks, and more.

Exploring functional beverages is an exciting and healthy way to step up your mocktail game.

Try adding CBD to your next mocktail or grab some RTD (ready-to-drink) bevs for your next event.

4. Skin

Drinking can have a drying effect on your skin, causing it to be dull or even flushed red at times.

When I quit drinking, I noticed a huge improvement in my skin. Plus, my care routine became easier to manage. No more sleeping in my makeup or “forgetting” to wash my face.

If you want to help your skin restore itself, use CBD moisturizer to prevent dryness!

CBD contains many compounds with "oil-reducing, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties" that can help reduce acne, soothe sensitive skin, and treat dryness.

Healthy, glowing skin will help you feel like yourself again and boost confidence.

Self-care is an important part of healing, and taking good care of yourself just feels right

It’s important to note - the research on using CBD for Alcohol Use Disorder is still limited at this point, but is gaining traction with promising results.
