Loving Yourself Sober With Coach Courtney Andersen

Feb 10, 2022

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, we're talking about love today!

So much of recovery is loving yourself. Don't get me wrong, the flowers and chocolate kind of V-Day are fantastic. But the best form of love can change your life in ways you never expected.

When I decided to get sober, I had to push myself so far out of my comfort zone. That meant saying no to invites that I knew would cause chaos and working through challenging emotions. I didn't realize it at the time, but I was doing this because, deep down, I loved myself. I still loved myself after mistakes, bad memories, and years of not feeling right

And that's why self-love is the most powerful

Self-love can save you if you embrace it.

One of the best quotes about self-love is from Andrea Dykstra. She says, "in order to love who you are, you cannot hate the experiences that shaped you."

In recovery, it's way too easy to hate the experiences that shaped us. But we know that holding onto hate gets us nowhere. That hate prevents us from healing and true self-love.

After working with many women over the years as a coach, I've learned a lot about the healing process and how to work through it. Watching my clients finally experience healing after being so dedicated to their journey is what keeps me cochin'. So, to honor them and everyone else in recovery today, I'm sharing some of their victories with you!

Client Love Notes:

"Without Courtney's program and support, I don't know if I would have made it past my 90-day mark I can now say I'm over two and a half years sober, and I have a great foundation for my sobriety because of her program." - Leah

"Sobriety can feel like a very isolated world. I had no idea what I was doing or how to be a successful recovering addict, but I did know that it was time to turn my life around before there was literally no life left to save. Then I found Courtney, and she helped me navigate this overwhelming life transformation. Let's face it, this shit isn't fun. It's hard. It may be the hardest thing you ever do, but you don't have to do it alone." - Elizabeth

"I am such a better and more at peace person because of you and so many things you said to me... and taught me.... they are all falling into place. I am legit another person.... my mind is different." - Amy

"Courtney encouraged me to value myself, put a pen to paper and start making lists, and to learn to trust my gut. She zeroed in on what I needed to do very early and continued to reinforce through our time together. Courtney told me she believed in me and that was pure magic!" - Mary

"I am beyond grateful to Courtney and the Sober Focus group for helping me during my first 60 days of sobriety. Courtney has created a safe space for you to discuss the struggles that occur when you are beginning your journey of being sober or are starting to think about it. She is real, a good listener, and an amazing resource. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Courtney and Sober Focus, for standing by my side during this huge transition of my life and taking the stigma out of being alcohol-free. Sober not boring!!" ~Taryn
